Nairobi Women Representative, Esther Muthoni Passaris has caught the attention of many Kenyans with a suggestion to have school uniforms banned in Kenyan schools.

This has caused people to react as Kenyans are not having it. People feel there are better ways to deal with the situation rather than banning of the uniforms.

According to Pasaris school uniforms are expensive and therefore schools should abolish them altogether.

''I'm going to ban school uniforms in Kenya,'' Nairobi Women rep Esther Passaris says.

Kenyans feel that there is more to do regarding the situation of uniforms being expensive.

People did not hesitate to comment about what their views are

captain_constand Uniforms are not symbols of having money per se but rather an equalizer,, If you make students have casual clothes you will see wonders

_.khxtra.h._ Instead should make the uniform free for them

brendaotieno_ so kids, that can't afford uniforms will afford good quality clothes to school?

A section of Netizens who weighed in on the conversation argued that her suggestion was irrelevant.

However, another section suggests that the government should take up the responsibility of giving school-going children free uniforms or at a lower cost when buying the same.

As one person has mentioned in the comments, uniforms are not a sign of having money but act as an equalizer.

Uniforms have helped to eliminate the background levels that children have since most people are from different social classes.

If uniforms are eliminated, there will be no equal opportunities, which will give students the mandate to dress to impress - this may also be hard for parents.
