Nigerian singer and songwriter Joseph Akinwale famously known as Joeboy is opening up on the advanced effects social media has had on music and artists alike over the years.

According to the 'Young Legend (LG) Record Label' owner social media has revolutionized not only the way music is created, but how it is shared, and consumed as well.

He strongly feels the highs of social media, such as global reach without relying on tens of people is one of the best things social platforms have done for musicians.

"Social media has been a game-changer for me and many other artists. It has allowed us to reach a global audience without necessarily relying on mainstream media, record labels, or gatekeepers. Platforms like Instagram and TikTok have become essential tools for promoting our music and engaging with fans in real-time," candidly stated the 'Body & Soul' hitmaker during an interview he had with 3FM.

Joeboy highlighted how easy it is right now for anybody interested to just hop into the music industry without having to go through hurdles and spend crazy amounts of money and effort.

“Now all of a sudden you can just get into the industry by just posting a cover or a song of yourself singing randomly on your bed and next thing is it is getting millions of views and everybody wants to work with you and connect with you,” added the former Mr. Eazi signee.

In as much as he is impressed with the advancements and all that social platforms have helped people achieve he also notes that it has its downsides.

Joeboy is keen enough to remind people that social media is a well-crafted page that allows the author to put down whatever they deem fit whether it's a façade or not. Which can lead to individuals easily getting misled.

“I can take a picture in front of a jet right now, I won’t say a word, and the next thing bloggers will say Joeboy has bought a jet, and people who do not know me privately will believe it, and if do not see anything they will take it as fact,” stated the Nigerian artist.
